I used Adobe Illustrator to draw this hopped-up 1956 GMC pickup truck a few weeks after I met its owner in the parking lot of the local Home Depot. Ironically, the wooden floor of the pickup bed was missing, so John couldn't have been shopping for anything too big. He had plans for some fancy inlaid wood, which I'm sure he has completed by now.
John had built this from a solid "barn-find" (actually, it was in a farm field) somewhere in Arizona, and it is beautiful. As you can see from some of my other work, I'm a "patina" guy, and I would have loved to have seen the original finish on this truck.
But John's elegant design appealed to me because it was so simple and clean.
You can see my photos of this truck over on my blog Rubber@Road.
